Day 1 : Marrakech to Dades Valley

We will begin our wonderful 7 days desert tour by departing from Marrakech and heading toward the stunning Dades Valley. On our way, we will pass through the impressive High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass, offering stunning panoramic views. We will make a stop at the famous Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site where many movies have been filmed. Then we will continue to Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Morocco,” where we can see the famous studios and kasbahs. By the evening, we will arrive in Dades Valley, where we will have dinner and settle into our charming hotel for a relaxing night.

After enjoying a traditional breakfast in Dades, we will continue our adventure towards Merzouga. Our first stop will be at the breathtaking Todra Gorges, a paradise for rock climbers and nature lovers. We will walk a little to admire the sheer cliffs and snap some memorable photos. Then, we will drive through picturesque Berber villages, seeing Morocco’s local life up close. As we reach Erfoud, known for its fossils and red desert architecture.
By late afternoon, we will arrive in Merzouga, where we will get ready for our camel trek into the golden dunes and witness a magical sunset. At night, we will have dinner and sleep under the starry desert sky in our cozy camp.

We will wake up early to watch the sunrise paint the dunes in magical colors. After breakfast, we explore the fascinating region around Merzouga. We visit nomadic families and learn about their way of life, then continue to the village of Khamlia to enjoy traditional Gnawa music. The afternoon is ours to relax or try sandboarding on the dunes. As evening falls, we gather around the campfire, share stories, and savor another night in this peaceful desert setting.

After breakfast, we will leave the magical desert behind and start our journey to Fes. On the way, we will stop in the traditional town of Rissani to visit its bustling souk, a wonderful traditional market, to experience local markets. We will continue through the Ziz Valley, where we can admire thousands of palm trees creating a green ribbon in the dry landscape. Our journey will also take us through the Middle Atlas Mountains, with a short stop in the cedar forest near Azrou, hoping to see the playful Barbary monkeys. We will then pass through the charming town of Ifrane, known for its Swiss-like architecture, before arriving in Fes by evening.

On today’s adventure, we will enjoy a guided tour of Fes, Morocco’s spiritual and cultural heart. We will walk through the narrow streets of the ancient Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site full of colorful souks, artisan workshops, and historic sites.
The guide will show you landmarks such as the Al Quaraouiyine University, the Bou Inania Madrasa, and the famous tanneries where leather is still dyed in traditional vats. We will also explore the Royal Palace’s impressive gates and stroll through the Jewish quarter. The day will end with some free time to wander or shop for local treasures.

After breakfast, we will set off on a delightful day trip from Fes. Our first stop will be the imperial city of Meknes, known for its grand gates and beautiful old Medina. We will explore historical sites like Bab Mansour and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail.
Later, we will continue to the Roman ruins of Volubilis, one of Morocco’s most important archaeological sites, where we will wander among ancient mosaics and columns that tell stories of a long-past empire. In the afternoon, we will return to Fes to relax and enjoy our evening at leisure.
